Founder Charlie Sanchez, Jr., started Rio Grande Herb Company, Inc. in 1989 out of an extra bedroom and garage in Tome, New Mexico. His passion for nature, combined with knowledge passed down from his parents, Trini and Charlie Sanchez, Sr., and his career in fish and wildlife, inspired him to start the company. 

In 1992, the company was sold to entrepreneur and brother Phil Sanchez, Sr., who worked hard to seed the wholesale business in Albuquerque, NM. Phil's strong background in business and sales helped expand the brand's awareness by reaching out to local retailers such as Walgreens, John Brooks Supermarket, natural grocers, and independent pharmacies. 

Tragically, Phil passed away in 2001, leaving his 22-year-old son, Phil Sanchez, Jr., with the responsibility of deciding the company's future. 

Today, Rio Grande Herb Company, Inc. is located in Albuquerque, still family-owned and operated by Phil Sanchez, Jr., continuing the family legacy of promoting health from nature. We are grateful for the support of our family, friends, customers, and everyone who has believed in us over the years. Thank you.
